1. Health Volunteers
Provide specialized and free health care to the people of Montero, especially to those with chronic problems that are difficult to treat. It offers foreign professionals the opportunity to serve a less privileged population and to gain experience in the field of public health in a country in development by carrying out activities such as patient care at the Health Centre, neighborhoods and hospitals, visiting the homes of the area, community education, training the staff, local professionals and university students.
Health care volunteers will have a busy schedule; consisting of patient care that may require laboratories or special examinations (which can be made in the same health centre, or other services in Montero or Santa Cruz if necessary), and prescribe drugs for the treatment of patients. Patients can return for a re-consultation and afterwards by request of the doctor. After the volunteers have returned to their country, the local medical staff makes a follow up of the patients seen by the medical volunteer, taking special care of those that need special treatment.
Public health professionals/students are also needed to perform a study of the area, in order to develop and implement programs to assist the community according to their needs.

- General Medicine – General Pediatrics
- Gynecology – Gastroenterologists
- Cancer Detection – Nursing
- Public Health – Psychiatry
- Ophthalmology – Dentistry
- Dental Hygiene – Nutrition
- Medical – Ultrasound
Requirements
- Spanish is not a requirement, but to be able to interact with the local people you must speak Spanish. Local translators can be hired.
- Medical students are welcome to apply for medical teams, construction teams, or a combination of medical and construction team. Students must be accompanied by a practicing qualified doctor in order to carry out medical duties.
